Persistent Facial Pain That Won’t Go Away?
My own chronic facial nerve pain began after a dental procedure and became constant and debilitating. After years of treatments, medications and searching for answers, I eventually found a different path forward.
Today, I’ve regained control over my pain and help others explore whether learned nervous-system pathways may be contributing to persistent pain.

My Experience With Facial Pain
My symptoms began after a tooth extraction in 2022 and developed into 24/7 facial nerve pain, including burning, numbness and pressure concentrated through the maxillary area. Along the way, I received diagnoses including Anesthesia Dolorosa, Dental Neuralgia and Central Sensitization.
After years of specialists, medications and treatments, I eventually discovered neuroplastic pain approaches and began a gradual recovery.
Exploring Persistent Pain
Living with pain that won’t go away can be exhausting, especially when nothing seems to fully explain it.
You might recognize some of this:
-
Pain that moves or changes over time
-
Symptoms that flare with stress or emotion
-
Normal scans, or findings that don’t explain the pain
-
One area improves, then another starts
-
Feeling stuck, confused, or dismissed
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and your pain is real.
In many cases, persistent pain can continue even when tissues have healed, because the nervous system has learned to stay on high alert.
This kind of pain is real and often changeable.
You don’t need to decide anything right now.
This page is simply a place to explore whether this perspective resonates.
A gentle next step:
Take a short self-check to see if a nervous-system approach might apply to you.
From Recovery to This Work
My own recovery led me to train in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and support others exploring a nervous-system approach to persistent pain.
My experience gives me a personal understanding of how difficult it can be to trust this approach when pain feels so physical and convincing.
You don’t need to have facial pain or share my exact story for this work to apply to you.
